Probably my first ‘proper’ gouache painting from June 2024.
About Me
I liked art as a kid and teenager, trying a few cartoons and some calligraphy. Then I stopped, briefly flirted with a couple of terrible watercolours in my thirties, and stopped again. In my fifties I decided to have another go and took up watercolours for about 18 months before life got in the way again. After a number of months not painting I decided to try drawing a few portraits, dabbled with some small oil paintings and then tried to develop some gouache skills in an attempt to paint outside - en plain air.
I’ve always shared my journey on social media as a way to force myself to be better and to get feedback.
I don’t think you ever stop learning art, I’m not sure if many artists are ever truly satisfied. It’s a constant journey of learning and improvement, hopefully with fun and joy (and a dollop of frustration for good measure!)
